About Amy

Amy Arons was born and raised in Northern New Jersey and has been drawing and painting for as long as she can remember.  Although she started with oils, Amy fell in love with the vibrancy of watercolors and has been painting with them ever since.

Amy enjoys painting a variety of subject matter – showcasing friends, family, and her exciting travels around the world.  In her words, "I want to leave a legacy when I am gone.  A story of where I traveled, what I saw, and who I held dear to my heart.  A memoir in paint."  

She prefers to paint in the early morning daylight when her energy is at its highest and she can select from what she calls "the colors of a kaleidoscope – the colors of a sunlit day."  Amy's palette is comprised of predominantly transparent watercolors, painted on Arches 300-lb. hot press and, more recently, 300-lb. cold press paper.  While her process starts with digitally projecting photo images onto paper, the real magic starts when the paint meets the paper.    

Amy is a signature member of the Virginia Watercolor Society and the Baltimore Watercolor Society, and a member of the Potomac Valley Watercolorists, where her work has been featured and acclaimed. 

Amy paints at her home in Northern Virginia where she lives with her husband and two dogs.  Amy also has two daughters and a grand-dog.  While Amy’s mother and daughter have also dabbled in watercolor, she is the true star of the family.
